About Denny’s

Denny’s a full service diner or family restaurant chain. It has over 1,500 outlets in the US, as well as Puerto Rico, Canada, Costa Rica, Curacao, Jamaica, Honduras, Japan, New Zealand, Mexico, United Arab Emirates, and Qatar.

Denny’s has always been known as a warm and cozy dining destination that is always open, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert…all day and all night. Most of their branches are situated near service areas and freeway exits, making it an ideal stopover for hungry travelers. Denny’s does not even close during holidays.

The restaurant’s first outlet was established in 1953, in Lakewood, California. During that time however, it was a donut shop called, “Danny’s Donuts.”

A year layer, additional outlets were put up and simultaneously expanding their menu to include entrees and sandwiches. By 1959, the business had grown to become a 20-restaurant chain. Danny’s Donuts was then changed to Denny’s

During the late 70’s Denny’s introduced their Grand Slam Breakfast as a tribute to star baseball player, Hunk Aaron. It eventually became Denny’s most popular breakfast meal.

By 1981, the business was still booming and Denny’s had now more than 1,000 restaurants across the US.

Denny’s was also popular for offering free meals to those celebrating their birthdays. They gave celebrants meal options form their birthday menu. This fun promo was ceased in 1993 but revived several years later. Today, birthday celebrants get to enjoy a free Grand Slam Breakfast. With a Grand Slam Breakfast, diners get to pick 4 food items from a list consisting of bacon strips, buttermilk pancakes, buttermilk biscuits, egg whites, chicken sausage patty, eggs, English muffin, hash browns, grits, oatmeal, wheat pancakes, sausage links, toast, and turkey bacon strips.

For lunch, Denny’s offer burgers, sandwiches, salads, and soups. For dinner, diners can enjoy Steak and Seafood as well as American dinner classics such as homestyle meatloaf, country fried steak, and barbecue chicken.
